Lianhua Supermarket is one of China’s earliest modern chain retailers and a key retail platform under Shanghai state-owned Bailian Group. Its brands include Century Mart, Lianhua Supermarket, and Quik convenience stores, spanning hypermarkets, community supermarkets and convenience stores.
In recent years, Lianhua has continued upgrading stores and optimising its product structure as competition intensifies and consumer demand changes. Its focus has been on product strength, private labels and supply-chain capability, especially in the Yangtze River Delta.
Wine has long been part of Lianhua’s imported product offering. Large-format Century Mart stores typically feature imported wine sections covering France, Italy, Spain, Chile and Australia, with gift boxes, themed promotions and food-pairing campaigns around major holidays.
However, compared with retailers such as Freshippo and Sam’s Club, which have been more active in building wine consumption experiences, Lianhua has not publicly launched a dedicated wine strategy or private-label wine brand. Its wine business remains focused mainly on enriching the product mix and meeting household consumption demand.
