Natalie Wang, Founder and Editor
Born and raised in Chongqing, China, Natalie Wang built her journalism career in Hong Kong after earning a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Hong Kong in 2011. She honed her reporting skills at the International Herald Tribune, Thomson Reuters and JNA magazine before entering the drinks industry in 2015. She first worked with American wine critic James Suckling, then joined the drinks business Hong Kong as managing editor for Asia, covering the region’s wine and spirits industry. In January 2019, Wang founded Vino Joy News, the most trustworthy media platform delivering news, data and analysis on the wine industry in China and across Asia. She has twice been named among the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Wine and Spirits by the Women in Wine and Spirits Awards (WINWSA), where she also received the Social Media Award. In 2022, she was nominated for the IWSC’s 2023 Wine Communicator of the Year award, becoming the only Chinese-born wine journalist to receive the distinction. She also served as the only Chinese judge at the inaugural 67 Pall Mall Global Wine Communicator Awards, which recognize excellence in wine writing and communication.Alongside her editorial work, Wang judges wine competitions and regularly speaks at industry forums, including Harvard’s Vine to Mind symposium.
