Topo Chico, Coca-Cola

Coca-Cola launched its first alcoholic beverage Topo Chico hard seltzer in China this June. The drink is made with a gluten-free alcohol base with sparkling water. It comes with a 4.7% abv alcohol level with low sugar and zero fat, catering to the younger generation’s pursuit of a ‘lighter’ lifestyle.
The product is inspired by the Mexican 1895-born sparkling mineral water brand Topo Chico, which was later acquired by Coca-Cola in 2017. The sparkling water has been a popular choice of bartenders around the world, especially in Texas and Mexico, before the acquisition.
Topo Chico is described as having “a nice, subtle salinity, laced with a hint of citrus”. The texture is said to contain more bubbles than other sparkling waters.
The makeover version of Topo Chico in China comes with three flavours including Tangy Lemon Lime, Strawberry Guava, and Pineapple Twist. They can be purchased on Coca-Cola’s Tmall flagship store at the price of RMB 29.9 (USD 4.7) for a single can.
