Champagne house Louis Roederer has once again been named the “World’s Most Admired Champagne Brand” by Drinks International magazine, marking the seventh consecutive year the producer has received the title.
The ranking is determined by a panel of more than 300 industry experts from around the world and is widely regarded as one of the most authoritative lists in the Champagne sector. The judges include sommeliers, retail buyers, importers, Masters of Wine, journalists and wine writers.
During the evaluation process, the panel assesses several criteria, including the quality and consistency of the brand’s Champagne—particularly its non-vintage expressions—as well as the strength of its branding and marketing, and the overall price-to-quality ratio across the product range.
Explaining this year’s result, the panel praised Louis Roederer for the consistency and excellence of its wines, as well as its long-term commitment to sustainable viticulture.
Wine journalist Giles Fallowfield, who compiles the annual list, said: “Louis Roederer heads the Top 40 Most Admired Champagne Brands table yet again. This family-owned and run business has triumphed in eight of the twelve years I have been putting this report together — an astonishing achievement by team Roederer.”
Founded in 1776, Louis Roederer is now led by Frédéric Rouzaud and remains one of the few large Champagne houses still independently owned by the founding family. The estate owns vineyards across several Grand Cru and Premier Cru sites, covering about 250 hectares, of which 135 hectares are certified organic (AB certification).
Commenting on the accolade, Rouzaud said that since the house was founded in 1776, it has been guided by a deep love for its vineyards and a determination to produce the finest Champagne.
“Since its creation in 1776, our Champagne House has been guided by an unconditional love for our vineyards and a determination to produce the finest Champagne wines.”
“Two hundred and fifty years later, for my family and for everyone who works alongside us every day, receiving such recognition again — for the seventh consecutive year — is tremendous encouragement.”
“It allows us to continue focusing on what we love most: creating wines that evoke emotion and showcasing our terroir, our savoir-faire and the distinctive character of our Champagnes around the world.”
Alongside Louis Roederer’s continued dominance of the ranking, Krug took second place, followed by Bollinger in third.
Billecart-Salmon ranked fourth, while Pol Roger and Charles Heidsieck shared fifth place. The remaining positions in the top ten were held by Dom Pérignon, Ruinart, Taittinger and Laurent-Perrier, respectively.
