This year's ProWine Hong Kong will feature broadened international participation, an expanded wine and spirits showcase, and the debut release of its China market report.

ProWine Hong Kong 2025 is set to return from May 14 to 16 with its most expansive edition yet, bringing nearly 200 exhibitors from more than 20 countries to the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year’s fair will feature broadened international participation, an expanded wine and spirits showcase, and the debut release of its China market report.

Now in its fifth edition, the international trade fair will spotlight global producers and distributors targeting growth in Greater China and Northeast Asia. Organizers say the show reflects the region’s rising demand for premium products, bolstered by recent policy reforms that are reshaping the import landscape.

Spirits Surge on Duty Reform

A major focus this year is the strengthened spirits category, fueled by Hong Kong’s revised liquor tax announced in October 2024. The new two-tier system slashed duties on the portion of imported spirits valued above HK$200 from 100% to 10%, a shift that has reignited interest in high-end spirits and reinforced the city’s role as a regional trade gateway.

ProWine will showcase a curated selection of premium spirits from around the world. Chinese Baijiu will stand alongside independent spirit producers from Ireland, Mexico, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, and Ukraine—offering a diverse portfolio ranging from the malt-forward depth of Irish whiskey to the herbal complexity of Eastern European liqueurs.

Expanding Global Footprint

Following its post-pandemic return in 2023, which drew 140 exhibitors from 12 countries and more than 11,700 trade visitors, the 2025 edition is set to broaden its international scope. Highlights include the largest-ever Germany Pavilion, reflecting the growing appeal of Riesling and other premium German wines across Asia, and two official Spanish pavilions representing DO Toro and Castilla y León.

National delegations from France, Italy, Portugal, Australia, and the United States will also return, alongside independent exhibitors from more than a dozen markets, creating a truly global platform.

A new feature this year, the ProWine Bar, will offer a full-day tasting experience. Morning sessions will spotlight global wine selections, while afternoons will feature mixology demonstrations by professional bartenders, exploring classic recipes and regional cocktail trends.

Business Intelligence and Tasting Expertise

ProWine Hong Kong 2025 will also host more than 30 seminars, masterclasses, and panel discussions. The event will see the release of the ProWine International Business Report China 2025, followed by a forward-looking discussion featuring experts from academia, media, international brand management, and trade strategy.

Additional highlights include:

  • Tasting seminars led by Masters of Wine Jackie Ang, Patrick Schmitt, and Xing Wei.
  • A new Decoding Pairings session, led by a top sommelier from a Michelin-starred Hong Kong restaurant.
  • Specialized tastings focused on whisky, as well as wines from Spain, Italy, Chile, and Germany.
  • The Asia debut of The Drinks Business Green Awards, recognizing producers placing sustainability at the core of their operations.

Synergy with HOFEX

ProWine Hong Kong 2025 will once again be co-located with HOFEX, Asia’s leading food and hospitality trade fair. Together, the two events are expected to host more than 1,600 exhibitors and attract over 30,000 visitors, creating a cross-industry platform linking wine, food, packaging, and hospitality.
