Wine lovers, get ready to put your taste buds to the test and win a free trip to France!
Les Jamelles, the acclaimed French winery known for its single varietal wines from the South of France, is partnering with Hong Kong’s oldest wine and spirits educator, Asia Wine Service & Education Centre (AWSEC), to bring a unique blind tasting challenge on grape varietals.
Scheduled for August 30 as part of the celebration of AWSEC’s 30th anniversary, the competition is structured in three rounds, each progressively more challenging to test contestants’ ability to correctly identify various grape varietals and AOCs from the South of France.
Competition Rounds
Round 1: The Grape Challenge (11:30 AM – 12:30 PM)
- Participants: Up to 80
- Task: Identify 10 different grape varieties from the South of France.
Round 2: AOC Identification (2:30 PM – 3:30 PM)
- Participants: 20 shortlisted from Round 1
- Task: Work in groups to identify the relevant French AOCs from 10 blinded wines.
Round 3: The Blend Challenge (4:00 PM – 4:30 PM)
- Participants: 4 finalists
- Task: Identify as many grape varieties as possible in two blended wines.
Prizes
- Winner: A round trip to the South of France, including a visit to the Les Jamelles winery, valued at over HKD 13,000.
- 1st Runner Up: 24 bottles of Les Jamelles wines.
- 2nd Runner Up: 18 bottles of Les Jamelles wines.
- 3rd Runner Up: 12 bottles of Les Jamelles wines.
- Consolation Prizes: Four AWSEC cash vouchers worth HKD 500 each.
