Maserati made a one of a kind GranCabrio Folgore, a 100% electric car to celebrate Tignanello's 50th anniversary

To mark the 50th anniversary of Italy’s famed Super Tuscan Tignanello, Italian luxury carmaker Maserati has crafted a bespoke Fuoriserie version of its GranCabrio Folgore, a cutting-edge electric model to honor the Marchesi Antinori family’s storied winemaking tradition.

The custom GranCabrio Folgore will be auctioned on July 14 at the Festival Napa Valley’s Arts for All Gala, a leading arts charity event in the U.S.

This collaboration also celebrates Maserati’s 110th anniversary, bringing together two icons of Italian craftsmanship. The Antinori family, with over 600 years of winemaking history spanning 26 generations, represents a legacy of tradition and innovation. The partnership underscores shared values of heritage, artistry, and a forward-thinking approach.

The GranCabrio Folgore Tignanello draws inspiration from the vineyard, symbolizing roots and territory. The car features a custom Terra di Tignanello paint, a chestnut hue inspired by vineyard soil, accented with a coppery burgundy reminiscent of Tignanello’s barrels. The rims and calipers are finished in matte and gloss black, respectively, with copper emblems and a glossy copper Maserati logo on a black background. The soft top is black.

Inside, the car celebrates the history of Tignanello and Antinori. The seats are upholstered in a unique silver and burgundy ribbed weave made from Vegea, a sustainable fabric derived from vineyard by-products, mimicking leather. Dark briar wood with laser etching, inspired by oak barrels, adorns the panels with text about Tignanello’s creation. The headrests feature the Maserati Trident and Tignanello’s sun emblem, with the same symbol laser-engraved on the central tunnel along with the dates 1971-2021.

“This collaboration with Marchesi Antinori gives us the opportunity to epitomise the essence of Bespoke production,” said Klaus Busse, Maserati’s head of design. “It’s designed to create ad-hoc experiences for our customers, producing tailor-made cars that elevate the driving experience, just as an exceptional wine does at the table.”

Piero Antinori expressed pride in the collaboration, saying, “A one-of-a-kind model, inspired by Tignanello for its 50th anniversary, a car with a great identity and recognisability, just like our wine. An initiative that makes our family particularly proud: this special GranCabrio Folgore will be auctioned at Festival Napa Valley’s 2024 Arts for All Gala, with the proceeds to be donated to charity”.

The GranCabrio Folgore is Maserati’s first 100% electric convertible, combining performance, comfort, style, and elegance. It features an 800V battery system developed with Formula E technology, offering top performance while maintaining Maserati’s signature comfort and sophistication. The car includes four true seats, a neck warmer for cooler temperatures, and a wind stopper to minimize cabin turbulence.

Tignanello, a pioneering Super Tuscan wine, was the first Sangiovese aged in barriques and one of the first Chianti Classico reds to exclude white grapes. Crafted from a careful selection of Sangiovese and Cabernet from the Chianti Classico region, Tignanello embodies the Antinori family’s motto, “Te Duce Proficio” – “Following your guide I flourish.”

Antinori wines are sold in Hong Kong through Links Concept.
