Auction house Christie’s has announced it will be relocating its Asia Pacific headquarters to The Henderson, a modern architectural feat in Central Hong Kong, designed by the renowned Zaha Hadid Architects this September.
Starting September 2024, Christie’s will kick off its operations in the new location with an expansive three-month series of art and luxury auctions, cutting-edge exhibitions, and special events. This marks the beginning of a vibrant, year-round sales and events calendar aimed at the Asian market, with more details expected to be released in the upcoming months.
The decision to move to The Henderson was first announced in 2021, responding to the increasing demand from the region’s growing market. Situated in the heart of Hong Kong’s Central Business District, the new headquarters aims to bridge connections and better serve the burgeoning number of Asian collectors through Christie’s extensive global network.

Spanning over 50,000 square feet across four floors, the new facility is designed to be a comprehensive hub for collectors. It will feature a saleroom, galleries, client-specific spaces, and offices, all set to offer an unparalleled collecting experience. The space is characterized by its high-tech, flexible design, allowing for museum-quality exhibitions and a range of events aimed at engaging Christie’s diverse clientele.
A highlight of the new headquarters is its environmentally sustainable design, which aligns with Christie’s commitment to responsible business practices. The Henderson has earned pre-certification for several green and healthy building awards, reflecting its potential to positively influence Christie’s operational and environmental goals.
Before transitioning to The Henderson in September, Christie’s will host its final season of bi-annual sales at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in late May 2024. This move not only signifies a new chapter for Christie’s in Asia but also sets the stage for an innovative approach to art auctions and events year-round.
