Huang Xiaoming is a Chinese actor, singer and model, but some say he should be called an investor as he founded his own venture capital investment firm Ming Capital in 2016.

His passion for wine investment can be dated back to 2012. Sina Finance reported Huang raised RMB 60 million (USD 9.4 million) with his business partners and imported wines from five major châteaux in Bordeaux, including Château Lafite Rothschild, to auction in China.

In 2015, he established a wine importing company CHUN YA MING FANG and became the exclusive distributor of Spanish Rioja winery Bodegas LAN in China. The winery is located in Rioja, Spain’s most famous wine region with the highest DOCa status in Spanish wine regulations.

2010 Bodegas LAN Culmen Reserva was awarded the International Trophy Red Spanish Varietals by Decanter in 2015 and praised for showing ‘modern Spain at its absolute best’. 2005 Bodegas LAN Culmen Reserva from the winery also topped the 600 best Spanish wines list published by Wine Spectator in 2020 with a score of 96.

Huang had featured wines from Bodegas LAN in his events, celebration dinners and even at his own wedding to another Chinese celebrity Angelababy, revealed by the general manager of CHUN YA MING FANG in an interview in 2017. The price of LAN series currently ranges from RMB 268 to RMB 1769 (USD 42 to USD 277) for single bottles on JD.com.

He also partnered with Bodegas Manvi, S.A. and released the wine series SALUD, targeting younger wine lovers in 2017. The price of the SALUD series is RMB 128 (USD 20) per bottle, and it comes with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Tempranillo editions.

According to the website of Bodegas Manvi, S.A., it is a family-run business established in 1917 owning 300 hectares of vineyards in 3 locations.

It claims to produce wines from organic grapes, with principal white varieties including Airén, Macabeo, Verdejo, Moscatel and Sauvignon Blanc. Reds include Tempranillo, Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon and Sirah.
