Areni Global, an international independent think tank for wine research, has officially become a research and industry associate of the Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW), enhancing the potential of knowledge exchange and collaboration of public events between the two bodies.
“We are excited about this partnership based on common values and a shared vision of a thriving, global, diverse wine industry,” Pauline Vicard, the Global Executive Director of Areni, said about the cooperation.
Established more than 70 years ago, IMW is a membership organization that provides study and exam program of wine knowledge. Masters of Wine (MW), the members of IMW, are those who passed the MW exams that include theory papers and blind tasting. MW membership recognizes one’s comprehensive understanding of wine knowledge and industrial commercial conduct.
Currently, there are 421 MWs working in 30 countries in different areas within the wine industry, such as winemaking, sommeliers, journalism, trade, research and education.
Registered in the UK, Areni Global is a think tank that researches on the external challenges faced by the fine wine, including factors of the regulation, environment and society.
Julian Gore-Booth, The Executive Director of IMW, also recognized the common in value between the two organizations in wine knowledge exchange.
“The alignment of values and goals with those of the IMW are undeniable,” Gore-Booth said, “we’re excited to see what we can achieve together for the benefit or our membership, our students and the wider community.”
