ProWine Singapore this year will debut its awards ceremony to highlight innovation and excellence at the inaugural ProWine Singapore Awards 2024. This event aims to celebrate achievements in the wine and spirits industry across three pillars: Education and Training, Experience and Engagement, and Trade.

The awards, set to be announced on April 25, are intended to raise industry standards and foster continuous innovation, featuring a panel of distinguished judges from Singapore and the global community.

These awards will honor the dynamic spirit and accomplishments of industry leaders in nine categories, including “Best Wine & Spirits Education Programme,” “Best Emerging Wine & Spirits Talent,” “Best No-Lo Beverage List,” “Best in Glass – Wine & Spirits List,” and “Top 10 Outstanding Wine Importer/Distributor.”

In addition to the awards, this year’s ProWine Singapore scheduled from April 23 to 26 will introduce new features like ProWine Zero and ProSpirits, as well as its first German Pavilion, on top its exceptional masterclass program designed to enhance the show floor experience for industry professionals.

Beattrice Ho, Project Director for ProWine Singapore at Messe Düsseldorf Asia, expressed enthusiasm about the event’s lineup: “This edition of ProWine Singapore not only showcases a strong and diverse array of exhibitors and masterclasses but also the inaugural ProWine Singapore Awards that honor outstanding achievements across education, engagement, and trade, setting a new benchmark for excellence in the industry. With new zones like ProWine Zero and ProSpirits, and the debut of the German Pavilion, we are delighted to offer dynamic opportunities for industry professionals to engage, learn, and connect.”

ProWine Singapore 2024, under the theme of diversity, will feature an extensive selection of wines and spirits with 200 exhibitors from 26 countries. The event includes six national pavilions and country groups, including France, Germany, Ireland, and three Spanish provinces, alongside Singapore, presenting a global panorama of vineyard excellence. The event anticipates 8,000 trade visitors, including sommeliers, distributors, and restaurateurs, with about 30% expected from overseas.

Albor de Resalte 2022 will make its Asian debut, a 100% Albillo Mayor from the only white grape authorized in DO Ribera del Duero. This French oak-fermented wine, aged 12 months, offers a balanced blend of wood and fruit. Additionally, Bobos Finca Casa la Borracha Bobal, from organic vines over 80 years old and aged 10 months in oak, will also appear for the first time in the region.

The first-ever German Pavilion in ProWine Singapore, hosted by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) in Hall 2 D1-01, will feature 11 wine producers from four regions, complemented by seminars and tastings led by German Wine Ambassador Jessica Himmelsbach. Singapore has also been selected to kick off the annual Riesling Week celebrations worldwide, organized by the German Wine Institute (DWI), with various activities to promote Riesling.

At the German Pavilion, exhibitors will showcase their products for the first time in Asia, including Weingut Spiess with Bechtheimer Hasensprung Pinot Noir and Einig-Zenzen with the Dr. Zenzen Queen of Grapes Riesling. Meanwhile, a 2023 Riesling from Frey Winery will make its global premiere.

Germany, as the chosen Country of Honour at the co-located FHA-Food & Beverage exhibition, will feature 37 exhibitors within the Germany Pavilion, marking one of the largest German participations in its history.

The strong bilateral relations between Germany and Singapore, highlighted by the 2022 Joint Declaration on sustainability and free trade, have boosted German food and drink exports to Southeast Asia to over one billion euros, with Singapore as a critical market. In 2022, German wine exports to Singapore doubled to two million euros, reflecting the discerning taste of Singaporean consumers. Germany’s wine exports are expected to continue growing in the region due to Riesling’s popularity and compatibility with Southeast Asian cuisine.
