Paternoster Synthesi Aglianico del Vulture DOC 2016

As the name suggests, the wine by Italy’s renowned Tommasi Family Estates aims to offer a synthesis of Aglianico grape, aka “Nebbiolo of the South”.

Known more for their elegant and refined Valpolicella, Tommasi also makes a 100% Aglianico from Aglianico del Vulture DOC in Basilicata.

The wine serves as an introduction to understanding Aglianico, the exquisite volcanic terroir and how that translates in the cellar and in the wine glass. The grapes are grown between 450 and 600 meters above sea level on volcanic soil. It opens to primary notes of intense black fruits, pepper and earth.

Robust and masculine, this 100% Aglianico shows concentrated dark-fruit nose with nutty overtones of oak and hints of vanilla. Lush dark fruit with enough acidity to balance it and fine long tannins.

Be sure to seek out the wine at Vino Condiviso. You can also find the wine at Watson’s Wine.
